How did you become an entrepreneur?

I was dissatisfied with having to do massage for other companies. I ran in to some ethical issues with employers and realized that I wanted to do the kind of work that I wanted to do and not what someone else dictated. I had been an actor in Los Angeles and was used to being a business person. I quit my job one day and started my own practice.

What is the nature of your business? What kind of product/service to you provide?

I specialize in medical massage and alternative medicine. I provide, not only hands on treatment, but also health consultations including herbs, homeopathics and Bach Flower Essences, but also reiki and birth assisting. I also just released my first book, The Alternative Medicine Cabinet and have an instructional massage DVD. I also do lectures and workshops on natural health.

Why do you love what you do?

I get to help people feel better, have a better life and heal. I've gotten thank you notes, hugs and voice mails of appreciation from clients that have regained better health. I love educating people and encouraging them to take control of their lives. I love public speaking because I love to not only educate, but also entertain.

How do you attract clients?

I do tons of advertising, but also word of mouth and recommendations from other practitioners like chiropractors and acupuncturists.

I've done over 30 radio shows as an expert on natural health and wellness. I've been quoted as an expert in Pacific Coast Business Times, Massage Magazine, Bottled Water Web, SB Fitness, Coastal Woman and Discover. I've written for dozens of publications and was selected as a Best Practice by Massage Magazine two years in a row. I've done lectures and workshops for the public, organizations and universities.
